2011 Peugeot 908 LMP1 - PURE SOUND!! Test @ Monza for the 24 hours of Le Mans 2011
Photos here: picasaweb.google.com Today I've recorded a test at Monza Circuit (Italy) of the new Peugeot 908 for 2011 LMP championship. The track has been wetted by a special water tank. The car hasn't got the racing livery. You can see that there are a lot of new aerodynamic parts like a large engine air-intake mounted on top of the engine cover, the fin on the engine cover or the rear wing mounted on a twin 'swan-neck' supports. The engine is a 3700cc V8 turbocharged diesel engine. The sound is quite different from the old V12 turbodiesel engine and this V8 sounds a bit more noisy (good thing that :) ). Enjoy watching!!!

Peugeot 908 Le Mans Crash/Accident
Marc Gene is involved in a huge crash at the pretest of the 2008 Le Mans, with his Peugeot 908 HDI. He crashed with incredible 270 km/h (168,75 m/h)! Marc was luckily unharmed after the crash. He only broke a toe. But the car, did never race again...

1971 Porsche 908/3 Prototype part of the prestigious Collier Collection was produced to win but two races: the Targa Florio and Nurburgring. Flat-eight air-cooled, mounted midship, twin overhead camshaft, fuel-injected, 2997 cc, 360 hp at 8400 rpm weighing only 1200 lbs. Just 13 were produced: eleven in '69-'70, two in '71. Here legendary race driver Brian Redman wins grp 7A race at the 2009 Monterey Historics.
