On board flight video from a successful launch over the weekend of an advanced sounding rocket designed and built by Armadillo Aerospace. Amazing. All of the outtakes and behind the scenes videos are coming out from series 18. And this one is The Stig 's Italian Cousin - which we first met in Italy in episode 1 - doing his lap around the scary Imola in the Ferrari 458 Italia. These are the practice laps. Anyway, if you can't stretch your memory that long ago, here is what happened on that weekend: Challenge: Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are in Italy - Lecce to be exact - and this week it's for one of their big road trips and supercar shootouts. They are attempting to find which mid-engined supercar is better than a Ferrari 458 Italia. Hammond chose a Noble M600, May a McLaren MP4-12C and Clarkson a Lamborghini Aventador. The team begin by trying to find out how fast they dare to go and the fuel consumption at such a speed by performing top speed runs at the Nardo Ring Test Track, which turned out that both Hammond and Clarkson got 204 miles per hour (with Hammond faster for 0.5mph) and May for 201mph. The trio then head to Rome to find a restaurant at the central of the city, a challenge that May won as Clarkson had to find a parking space and Hammond's car had failed during the drive at the Italian countryside. Finally, the trio had to take part in the time trial challenge, in which that all must set their fastest time around the Imola Grand Prix track, Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari. Top Gear Series 18 Outtakes: The Stig in a KTM X-Bow (Unseen)
Here is another series 18 exclusive outtake. This one is from episode 6 where they didn't show the Cross Bows lap - because the show would be to long. Anyway, here is what else happened on that weekend: Challenge: Jeremy, Richard and James hit Donington Park in three stripped out track cars - the KTM X-Bow, the Morgan Three Wheeler and the Caterham Seven, in an attempt to show which is the better track racer. They test the cars in a series of challenges, including a drag race, best donut attempt, and fastest entry through a hairpin corner. During the news section, they sent the KTM and Morgan round the track. The KTM set a time of 1.27.0 and the Morgan went round in 1.40.4. The trio are later challenged to drive to work in their track cars - but soon discover that none of the cars are ideal for strong weather conditions or speed bumps. They also end up stopping on the way to buy some weather-suitable outfits, much to the dismay of a group of bikers. Review: Clarkson creates his own version of the 'Battle of Britain' using a model of a classic 1920's Bentley that has a WW II-era tank engine (Petersen Meteor Bentley) and a home-made German car made using an aeroplane engine called Brutus. Both cars are then driven round the track, setting the two slowest times ever (1:50:3 and 2:02:5). The amount allowed transferred is based on how long they have played the game and how many cars and credits they have. A video demo of the game showed that the player was able to look into a corner using the new head tracking feature, allowing them to see where the apex is, and the cars around them. Another new feature called Autovista allowed the player to walk around and explore inside their vehicle using Kinect. The player could point at certain features, such as headlights, wheels and the engine, for further information about them. The Autovista feature is not limited to Kinect users only, and is useable by a regular Xbox 360 controller.
