The Origami Spiked Pentakis Dodecahedron is an excellent Paper Christmas Decoration Star made out of 15 paper squares. In spite of the large paper size I was defeated by the last module after nearly 2 hours (!) of trying to lock the last unit in place each time another one dislodged Never mind, it is still a remarkable sound structure once (nearly) completed and you can not see which one is not locked anyway IF YOU ARE NOT A PATIENT ORIGAMIST USE GLUE !! YES, again the G-WORD is used! SPRING IS IN THE AIR!!! :D Normally I am not a big fan of models folded from odd shape paper such as hexagons... but there must always be exceptions... like this magnificent daffodil by Ted Norminton (Classic Origami by Paul Jackson, available for less than 10US$, found diagram also online: www.flickr.com ). Not a real easy model to make but well worth the effort. The video also shows how to make the stem and a nice feature is that it can stand upright on its own! You can still make them from 12 cm squares but better use 15cm or bigger. I did not need the scissors myself of course ... Enjoy! ; )

QUITE EASY these Columbines or Aquilegia flowers that are nice spurred flowers which - with a bit of imagination ; ) - resemble the "flower with spurs" designed by Krystyna Burczyk. As Columbine will always have a negative ring to it and "flower with spurs" sounds a bit dull I just renamed it Aquilegia. Beautiful and easy to make design. Quite easy this tulip ... and as quite some people asked me about this tulip as it was starring in the daffodil video, which is quite long and not for beginners, I thought why not. ;) I have also taken the opportunity to show how you can make the slightly better looking stem for both tulip and daffodil in this video (by sinking in the bottom flap... that probably makes no sense at all ... better watch the vid!! :D ).

Instruction on how to make the Twistar or Origami Medial Rhombic Triacontahedron. I never knew this model with the "floating"spikes was so easy to fold. I thought it required glue, but is not needed! Putting it together is a bit of a hassle but still relatively easy. The locking is not great but when the first two complete 5 module spikes are ready it locking is not so bad either. Magnificant design by Miyuki Kawamura with close resemblance to a Medial Rhombic Triacontahedron and the Daniel Kwan's SSMART Dodecahedron. Finally completed this Ku-Kusudama (not developing a stutter here...). It was inspired on Ku-Ku's Cherry Blossom Dish ;-) I soon discovered that 5-petal flowers make great dishes but are quite over stretched. As I wanted to make a dodecahedron (a 12 pentagon ball) (ku-)kusudama I needed a 5-fold so made it with 12 10-petal flowers. Also gluing them together worked out well, the tip of the petal is almost at the perfect angle (see vid!) to make a dodecahedron :-) Music by www.pacdv.com

Not really easy, but also not awfully complicated these Stars. Quite amazing this "woven" effect, considering it is made from a single square. I saw the model first in a book of Kunihiko Kasahara but I am not sure as to whether he made the original design. About the music...normally I am not so much into classical ... let alone harpsichord ... one of the few exceptions that I make is for JS Bach's Goldberg variations, the music used is actually a MIDI file (not a real harpsichord), sequenced by David J. Grossman www.jsbach.net Hey it's no Glenn Gould on piano, but still the magic is there ... and if not... luckily YT thought of a mute button!! :D
