Casino Royale (1967) - opening credits

Casino Royale is a 1967 comedy spy film originally produced by Columbia Pictures starring an ensemble cast of directors and actors. It is set as a satire of the James Bond film series and the spy genre and is lightly based on Ian Fleming's first James Bond novel.

Ian Fleming's Casino Royale (1953) Pt1
This is the first ever screen adaption of a Bond novel, made in 1953 for US TV. The hero is played by Barry Nelson (changed to Jimmy Bond of the CIA) and the villain is played by Peter Lorre (better known for the successful 'Mr Moto' movies). Because of this adaption, when Eon productions bought the rights to Fleming's Bond 007 in the 1960s, the couldn't get Casino Royale as part of the deal. This led to the 1967 spoof version being made, starring Peter Sellers and David Niven. Many years later, Kevin McClory had obtained the rights to Casino Royale for Sony Pictures, and intended to make his own version of it separate from Eon. However, after a large lawsuit, the rights finally went to Eon as part of an out of court settlement in 2000. Finally, Eon were able to give the novel the full movie treatment in their own version, starring Daniel Craig, a few years later.

Crown Royale (Buff1 + DJ Rhettmatic) on New Album, Detroit Hip Hop, Radio
HardKnock.TV takes you Behind the Scenes into the Beat Junkies studio while Rhettmatic and Buff1 work on their new collaborative album; self titled "Crown Royale". Buff and Rhett start off by explaining how House Shoes, Jackson Perry and Haircut (Aka Mayer Hawthorne) played an integral role in the creation of Crown Royale the group. As the interview continues Buff says that growing up in Ann Arbor, Michigan is very different than growing up in Detroit and gives him and Athletic Mic League (his original group) the freedom to craft their music and lyrics without feeling the need to talk about gunplay, what is going on in the streets, etc. Buff continues by saying that Detroit music is a huge influence on what he does and that he learned from Dilla, Slum Village, Proof, D12 and Eminem. Buff concludes the interview by breaking down the meaning behind his classic track "Beat the Speakers up". Buff speaks about how radio programming is brain washing us and how when one hears a song six to seven times a day you can't help but start to know the lyrics. He admits that the underground has a lot of garbage too but that he wishes mainstream radio would have more balance in what type of artists it plays. This is an extra that you can find on the Korean Starmax 2-disc Special Edition of Battle Royale. It contains selected segments of music performed by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by the film's composer, Masamichi Amano. It includes segments of the following songs from the soundtrack: 1 - Bitter Victory 2 - "Requiem" (Verdi)/ Prologue 3 - Radetsky March (Strauss) 4 - Kawada's Theme 5 - THE THIRD MAN 6 - Air from Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major (Bach) *entire song is played I wanted to share this because I thought it was the most interesting extra on the disc, and watching the conductor and orchestra hopefully give you a better appreciation of the movie's excellent soundtrack, which includes pieces from Verdi, Strauss and Bach. Battle Royale really owes a lot to its soundtrack (and the original novel by Koushun Takami, of course).
